Issue Practice：“In our time, specialists of all kinds are highly over-rated. We need more generalists-people who can provide broad perspectives.”


In this rapidly changing era and society, in which we human beings are leading a various life everyday, thanks to the advance of technology and science leading to a necessity not only of specialists but also of generalists, equally.

This world can not get amazing progress without specialists, as it is necessary that specialists do research and exploration on diverse fields and even do inventions to make our life more convenient,, colorful and advanced. For instance, without Ford, who invented the production-lines, the efficiency of production nowadays would not be so high, and consequently, our life would not be filled with such numerous types of product. The development of our society calls for specialists to develop knowledge in various areas and our society is not supposed to have an outstanding advance with a high speed and on all aspects of society.

Moreover, for the other thing, specialists are necessary, considering the masses of new knowledge and information require some people to properly, usefully, and thoroughly assimilate them, and with which to do new inventions and research.

However, as far as I am concerned, over-specialization can make it dangerous to our society, since just as we can not justify the whole person, including his characteristics and personality from his finger-nails, we will only live with a narrow sight and the world, then, will doubtlessly just a physical addition result of different areas. In addition, over-specialization may hopefully bring us another consequence, which is that people will live completely independently and care little about anybody else. As a result, to make our society develop rapidly and smoothly, preventing over-specialization is attached to a great significance. Thus, generalists are indispensible as they bring us broader perspectives.

Based on above-mentioned, the development of our society requires specialists, from the result of whom we enjoy a more convenient and high-quality life, as well as generalists equally, people who bring us broad perspectives and make the society filled with interest.
