Have you ever picked your nose?
That is the question that poor Marvin Redpost asked to everyone for his class survey, the main character that has been isolated and alienated by others because of the rumor saying him the biggest nose picker in the school, which has been regarded disgusting and unsanitary. Even the teacher had a low opinion of him in his term card. However, when his wise class survey result turned out that everybody has done that, he regained the respect and appreciation of others.
It is obvious that we human beings are always doing things that even ourselves are not sure about. The only reason that we do them is that everybody else is doing them. It seems that we tend to judge things not by our own minds, but by others’.
Moreover, it proved that how vanity we are. We are laughing at people who do certain kind of things. Meanwhile, we are actually doing them, as well, stealthily.
This simple but great book, written by Louis Sachar, exposes the weakness of us human beings.
